Meyers Claims Medalist Honors at St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational

BERLIN, Md. – A career-best four-under-par 68 by Bentley University senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) during the final round of the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational Sunday helped the Falcon captain earn his fourth career tournament victory.

Meyers, who captured the NEIGA Division II title last fall, finished the 36-hole event at the Rum Pointe Golf Course at five-under to win by three strokes over Michael Miranda of St. Thomas Aquinas. Meyers turned in a 71-68-139 and Miranda followed at two-under with a 69-73-142. In a field of 63, he was the only player to shoot better than 71 during the second round.

Meyers' strong showing helped Bentley finish fifth among 13 teams with a score of 302-308-610. Concordia College (N.Y.) and Dominican College (N.Y.) were co-champions at 597, and Wilmington University (Del.) was third, four strokes back.

Bentley also received solid performances from junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./ Cheshire HS) and senior Brett Chatfield (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan HS), who tied for 24th with a 154. Simione turned in a 78-76 and Chatfield following a first-round 75 with a 79.

The next tournament for the Falcons is the Mike Bello Invitational in Syracuse, N.Y. Thursday and Friday.
