Ethier Leads Bentley during The Trojan, Finishing in a Tie for 5th

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Continuing what has been an impressive freshman year, Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) led the Bentley University Falcons during The Trojan golf tournament by finishing in a tie for fifth place with a four-over 220 Tuesday at the Walnut Creek Country Club.

Ethier, who had a second-round 68 on Monday, turned in a 75 in the tournament's final round. He has a team-best 73.5 stroke average for his first 12 rounds as a collegian.

Ethier's effort helped Bentley finish sixth overall with a 916. The Falcons opened with a 314, fired a 297 over the second round and closed with a final round 314. South Carolina Beaufort claimed the team championship, besting Barton College 884-889. A total of 11 teams participated in the event.

Bentley's next two finishers were a pair of seniors, Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) and Chris Ehl (Reading, Mass./Reading HS). Meyers tied for 19th after posting three consecutive rounds of 76, and Ehl tied for 29th with a 79-77-77-233. Junior Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS) was 33rd in the 64-player field with a 79-81-76-237.

Mount Olive's John Thatch captured medalist honors by defeating SC Beaufort's Marc Sweeney on the first playoff hole. Both finished the 54-hole tournament at two over with a 218.

Bentley's next tournament is the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational in Rum Pointe, Md. Saturday and Sunday.
