Bentley Pulls Out a 2nd-Place Finish in Ryan T. Lee Invitational; Kulikowski Ties for 4th

SIMSBURY, Conn. – Amassing six birdies over the last three holes, including four on the 503-yard par-five 17th, the Bentley University Falcons shot past St. Peter's College and held off Bryant University to finish second in the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Tournament Sunday, hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Hop Meadows Country Club.

The strong finish completed an impressive opening weekend for the only Division II team in the 13-team tournament. The Falcons, with a team score of 291-294-585, were one of five squads to break 600, finishing 11 strokes off Fordham University's winning pace. The rest of the top five in the predominantly Division I tournament were Bryant (587), St. Peter's (592) and Monmouth University (596).

Coming down the stretch, Bentley received birdies on the 16th from both junior Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS) and sophomore Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./ Cumberland Valley HS).

Both also birdied number 17, as did senior Brett Chatfield (Attleboro/Bishop Feehan HS) and junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS).

Kulikowski was Bentley's top individual finisher, tying for fourth with a one-over 145 (72-73). Falconer also cracked the top ten of the 75-player event, tying for ninth with a 72-74-146. Those were the best two rounds of his collegiate career.

Simione, who had shot a one-under 71 Saturday, and Chatfield tied for 15th with a four-over 148, and senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) tied for 29th with a 76-72-148.

Bentley had 30 birdies during the tournament with Falconer achieving four on both days of the tournament.
