Oliver Helps Bentley Finish 3rd in Mike Bello Invitational

BALDWINVILLE, N.Y. – Led by senior co-captain Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/ Lincoln Academy), the Bentley University golf team finished third among 15 teams in the Mike Bello Invitational, which concluded Monday afternoon at the Timber Banks Golf Club.

Bentley finished the tournament at 599 after recording a 288 second-day score. The Falcons trailed Concordia College(295-300-595) and Le Moyne College (296-300) in the team standings, but finished a stroke ahead of fourth-place Southern New Hampshire.  In the latest NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, SNHU was fourth and the Falcons were number five.

Oliver tied for second with a two-over-par 146, finishing two strokes off the winning pace of Concordia's Sebastian Rosa (70-74-144). After an opening round 72, Oliver closed with a two-over 72 and finished even with Southern New Hampshire's Matt Paradise.

Oliver's tournament included 26 pars and four birdies.

Bentley had two more in the top ten as freshman Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland HS) and sophomore Cal Meyer (Slinger, Wisc./Richfield HS) were among six who tied for fifth place. Meyers had a 74-75-149 and Kulikowski improved on his day one score by three strokes (76-73).

Four members of the Bentley team will compete in the Worcester State Invitational on Tuesday and the Falcons will host a tournament at Newport (R.I.) Country Club on Wednesday.
