OCEAN VIEW, Del. – Sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) was the top finisher for the Bentley University golf team during the first day of the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational at the Bear Trap Dunes Resort Friday. The tournament will conclude on Saturday.

Meyers turned in a career-best 71, one-under par, and will begin the second round in second place, four strokes back of Brendan Hunter of St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Next on the list for the Falcons are senior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) and freshman Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS). Both shot a 77 and are tied for 15th place in a 51-player field.

As a team, Bentley finished the day in third place, among nine teams, with a score of 304. St. Thomas Aquinas is at the top of the leaderboard with a 289, and Wilmington University (Del.) is second with a 300.
