Strong Day 1 for Bentley at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass. – When the second and final day of the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships gets underway Monday morning, the Bentley University Falcons will be in second place, both for the Division II title and overall. A total of 37 teams, including nine Division II, are participating in the 81st annual event.

Bentley, led by sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) and senior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy), turned in a first-round 309 Sunday and trails only Southern New Hampshire University (306) in the team standings. Assumption College is third in the Division II scoring list.

Meyers and Oliver, the defending overall champion, both finished the opening round with a three-over 75 at the Captains Course, tying for third among Division II golfers. Tye Morrison of Adelphi University is at the top of the leaderboard following a one-under 71 and Max Bock (American International) is second, three strokes off the pace. Overall, both Meyers and Oliver are tied for seventh.

Also in the Division II top 20 for Bentley is freshman Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS). He will begin the second round tied for 16th following a 79.
