Oliver Earns Medalist Honors at Division II Challenge; Bentley Takes 3rd
Bentley University senior captain Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) won his third career collegiate tournament as he fired a one-under 71 to finish the two-day Division II Challenge with a one-over 74-71-145 Saturday at the Quechee Club Highlands Course Saturday.
Oliver captured the tournament by five strokes over Aidan Fuller of Le Moyne College. Clare, Fuller's teammate and the co-leader with Oliver entering the tournament's second round, followed in third with a 74-77-151.
Bentley finished third of 11 overall in the tournament that was hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. Le Moyne claimed the team title by two strokes over SNHU, 616-618, and the Falcons followed with a 318-311-629.
Also cracking the top ten for Bentley was sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS). He was alone in seventh place with a 78-77-155.
This was the final tournament for the Falcons before they attempt to defend their title in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships (Oct. 4-5, Endicott, N.Y.).
