Oliver & Kulikowski Turn in 70’s as Low Scores Abound on Day 1 of Dowling Shootout

SHOREHAM, N.Y. – Senior co-captain Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) and freshman Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS) each fired a one-under 70 to lead the Bentley University golf team during the first day of competition in the Dowling September Shootout.

Oliver, an All-Region honoree a year ago, matched his best career round as a collegian while Kulikowski was making his collegiate debut.

They were two of six golfers to shoot under par on the par-71, 6,587-yard Tall Grass Golf Course. Despite being one-under, remarkably they are 10 strokes off the pace as Michael Miranda of St. Thomas Aquinas set a course record with an amazing 60!

Oliver and Kulikowski's efforts helped Bentley finish the day in fourth place with a score of 290. Miranda's team turned in a 12-under 272, and both Concordia College (N.Y.) (281) and Le Moyne College (283) are also in front of the Falcons. A total of 11 teams are competing in the annual event.

Bentley also received a pair of 75's, from sophomore Jimmy Brunone (Plymouth/Tabor Academy) and freshman Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS).

The tournament will conclude on Saturday.
