Bentley Finishes 2nd in Bear Trap Dunes Invitational

OCEAN VIEW, Del. – Led by junior Jon Stoddard (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS), the Bentley University golf team placed second among eight teams during the two-day Bear Trap Dunes Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the Bear Trap Dunes.

Stoddard tied for third among 51 players with a six-over-par 150. He turned in an opening round 76 and bettered that by two strokes on Sunday. Stoddard finished six strokes back of medalist Miguel Siercke of American International (75-69-144) and two behind day one leader Andrew Baldo of Wilmington University (Del.) (70-78-148).

Sophomore Sal Visali (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable HS) was the other Falcon in the top ten as his 79-75-154 put him in an eight-way tie for fifth place.

Sophomore Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) and senior Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) both tied for 13th, each posting a 36-hole score of 155.

Bentley, with a team score of 615 (308-307), finished seven strokes back of Wilmington in the team standings.

The next action for coach Mickey Herron's team is the Peter King Invitational Mar. 28-29.
