OCEAN VIEW, Del. – In its opening action of the spring season, the Bentley University golf team fell to a very strong Wilmington University (Del.) team, 293-318, Tuesday afternoon at the Bear Trap Dunes Kodiak/Black Bear Course.

Bentley, playing outside for the first time since the fall, was led by sophomore Tommy Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS), with a five-over-par 77. Teammates Jon Stoddard (Duxbury, Mass./ Duxbury HS) and Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) followed with 78 and 79, respectively.

Wilmington had five golfers shoot 75 or better with Alexander Lautnschlaeger, who was playing as an individual, setting the pace with a two-under 70.

Bentley will be back in action this weekend with the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational on the same course Friday and Saturday.
