BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Jack Zierolf (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde HS) was the number one golfer for the Bentley University golf team during the season-opening Central Connecticut State University Blue Devil Invitational, which concluded Monday at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course.

Zierolf posted his second straight 75 Monday to tie for 22nd with a 36-hole score of 150 in the predominantly Division I tournament. His performance both days was a personal collegiate best.

As a team, Bentley finished tenth overall among the 12 participating teams with a two-day score of 608. The Falcons improved on Sunday's score by four strokes, but slipped two positions in the overall standings.

Senior Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) had Bentley's best round of the tournament as he rebounded from an opening 79 to fire a second-round 73, his best as a Falcon. Overall, he tied for 32nd in a field of 60 with a 152.

Junior Jon Stoddard (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) recorded back-to-back 77's in the first tournament of the fall to tie for 42nd place at 154.

Bryant University took home the team and individual championships. The Bulldogs, with a score of 576, bested runner-up Laval University (Canada) by nine strokes with medalist honors going to Kyle Buschman with a four-under 136.

This weekend, Bentley will compete in the Northeast Challenge at the Lake Sunapee Golf Course in New London, N.H.
