Bentley Slips to Sixth in AIC/Adelphi Invitational

PUTNAM, Conn. – After turning in a season-best 297 on Saturday, the Bentley University golf team slipped to a second-day 314 and finished sixth out of 13 teams in the American International College/Adelphi University Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the Connecticut National Golf Course.

Bentley's top finisher for the tournament was senior co-captain Dan McQueen (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Reg. HS), who tied for 16th with a 73-77-150. Freshman Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) had the Falcons' best day two score, a four-over-par 75, and tied for 19th overall out of 68 golfers with a 151.

Freshman Tommy Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) struggled after an opening round 72 and finished in a tie for 27th with a 154 following a second-round 82.

Adelphi claimed the team championship by nine strokes over Holy Cross, 584-593, and the medalist was Steven Zychowski of Holy Cross. He was three-under for the tournament with his 69-70-139 giving him a three-stroke margin of victory.

Bentley will close out its fall schedule Oct. 29-30 with the New England Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster.
