Oliver Leads Bentley during Day 1 of Saint Rose Shootout; Falcons Stand in 2nd Place

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Bentley University freshman Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/ Lincoln Academy) had the best round of his young collegiate career, a four-over 75 on a cold, windy day, to help the Falcons reach the midpoint of the two-day Saint Rose Fall Shootout second in a field of ten.

Playing at the par-71, 6,574-yard Pinehaven Country Club, Oliver completed the opening round five strokes back of Sam Deitte of Concordia College. His 75 put him in a tie for second with Southern New Hampshire's Ernie Lupi.

As a team, Bentley is six strokes back of Concordia after recording a team score of 318.  Northeast-10 Conference rivals Le Moyne College and UMass-Lowell follow, at 323 and 323, respectively.

Senior co-captains Matt Michel (Danvers, Mass./Danvers HS) and Dan McQueen (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Reg. HS) were next on the scoring list for the Falcons. Michel's 78 put him in a tie for sixth, and McQueen, after an 82, is tied for 19th. A total of 54 golfers participated.
