Bentley Travels to Le Moyne for Match-Up of Division Leaders Tuesday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The two division leaders in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball will stage their only regular season meeting Tuesday when the Bentley University Falcons, the number one team in the Northeast Division, are in Syracuse, N.Y. to take on Southwest Division-leading Le Moyne College.

Game time on Le Moyne's Ted Grant Court is set for 7 pm with a webcast available on the NE10 NOW digital network.

Bentley, the winningest team in the conference with an overall mark of 16-4, is 8-3 in conference play, good for a one-game lead over both Franklin Pierce and Stonehill. The Falcons, who'll be playing on the road for the sixth time in nine January games, are coming off a 73-66 win at American International.

Le Moyne, 14-5 overall and 5-1 at home, has been almost perfect in conference play with ten wins in 11 games. The Dolphins have won four in a row, including a 108-88 rout of Saint Anselm Saturday, since dropping an 80-69 decision at Stonehill College earlier in the month. With eight regular season contests remaining, they lead both Adelphi and New Haven by three games.

Following a half-dozen lead changes and nine ties, Bentley closed out the AIC game in a strong fashion, using a 17-10 run over the final eight minutes. Junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) and freshman forward Isaac Martin (Peachtree Gardens, Ga./Norcross HS) came up big down the stretch, combining for 15 of the 17 points.

Four Falcons scored in double figures for the Falcons with senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton HS) at the top of the list with 17. Martin scored a career-best off the bench for the second straight game, finishing with 12, and was matched by sophomore guards Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./ Brooks School) and Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS).

Hudson's point total against the Yellow Jackets nearly matched his season total of 17.7, which is eighth best in the conference. He leads the NE10 in field goal percentage (.583) and is also second in blocks (1.40), sixth in minutes (35.3) and eighth in rebounds (7.9).

Webb and Mello-Klein also own double-figure scoring averages, at 16.3 and 12.5, respectively. Webb is one of eight players in the conference with at least 50 three-pointers and Mello-Klein has the second-best three-point percentage in school history, .447.

Le Moyne, the conference's top scoring team with an 85.7 average and probably the most experienced with eight seniors and grad students, has four double figure scorers, all of whom are shooting 47 percent or better from the floor.

Senior guard Ryan Roland leads the club at 15.1 points per game and is followed by senior forward Tom Brown (13.5), sophomore guard Nino Hernandez (12.8) and junior guard Tim Leavell (12.0). Rowell and Leavell are both outstanding shooters with each over 41 percent from three and the two a combined 72 of 76 at the line.

Bentley will enter Tuesday's game ranked first in the NE10 in scoring margin, rebound margin, field goal percentage and assists.

The Falcons lead the all-time series, 24-9, with last season's 66-58 win their sixth straight in the series. Hudson led the way for the Falcons with 20 points and 14 rebounds, including five at the offensive end.

Bentley will begin the month of February on Saturday with a 3:30 pm game in the Dana Center against Adelphi (14.6).
