Hudson & Webb Each Score 22 as Bentley Stays Unbeaten at Home, 97-74 over Saint Rose

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) and sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) each scored 22 points as the Bentley University Falcons improved to 10-0 at home with a 97-74 win over The College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Wednesday night in the Dana Center.

With the win, and losses by Franklin Pierce, Saint Anselm and Stonehill, Bentley took over sole possession of first in the NE10's Northeast Division after beginning the night in a four-way tie for the top spot. The Falcons clinched a winning record for the 24th time in 25 years, improving to 15-4 overall and 7-3 conference.

Bentley, which took the lead for good on an inside basket from junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS) three minutes into the game, opened the contest up later in the first half on an 11-3 run. Coming over a span of 5:15, that turned a six-point game into a 37-23 advantage with 4:50 left in the first half.

Blust scored the first seven during that spurt with a three-ball from the right wing, a hook shot and a lay-up. He finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and a pair of assists.

With the two teams separated by 11 points with 11:20 to play, Bentley broke the game wide open with an 18-1 explosion over the next four minutes to go up a game-high 28, 84-56. Hudson had eight points, including a pair of three-point plays the traditional way, and freshman guard Isaac Martin (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Norcross HS) sank a triple from each corner.

Hudson, who surpassed 1,200 points for his career, made nine of 12 shots overall, including 9-of-10 inside the three-point line, and was a team-best plus-29. Webb buried five three-pointers during his 22 points night and junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) finished with 12 points and seven assists in 31 turnover-free minutes.

Martin was Bentley's fifth double-digit scorer, coming off the bench to score a career-high 10 points in 14:23. A productive night from the Falcon non-starters also included eight points from senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School), along with five points and seven rebounds from freshman guard Kellen Bochenek (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont HS).

Saint Rose (4-15, 1-9 NE10) was led by junior guard Adam Anderson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Sekou Sylla (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who combined for 43. Anderson drained six three-pointers during a 22-point night and Sylla followed with 21 points on nine rebounds.

Bentley shot 49 percent overall, made 13 of 38 three-pointers and came up with 19 offensive rebounds, which were turned into 24 second-chance points. Saint Rose finished with a .431 field goal percentage despite knocking down nine of 15 three-pointers.

The Falcons also had the advantage in total rebounds (39-35), turnovers (only seven as compared to the Knights' 16), bench points (23-2), assists (23-10) and points off turns (19-7).
