Webb, Wright-Kinsey Each Score 17 as Bentley Wins at Felician, 74-64

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Sophomore guards Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) and Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) each scored 17 points to help the Bentley University Falcons to a 74-64 win over Felician University in non-conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

Bentley used 47 percent shooting and 11 three-pointers to improve to 9-2 on the season. Felician, on the other hand, slipped to 4-6.

The Falcons owned the final ten minutes of the opening half, using a 29-15 run to take a 50-35 advantage into the halftime break. They made 11 of 17 shots overall during that stretch, including six of seven from beyond the arc.

Junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon, Mass./Thayer Academy) scored the first five to push the lead from one to six, 26-20, and Wright-Kinsey buried three of his four treys.

The momentum carried into the third with two baskets from senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) and another Wright-Kinsey three-ball producing a game-high 22-point lead, 57-35.

After shooting well over 50 percent during the first 22 minutes, Bentley scored only ten points in a span of 11-plus minutes. That allowed the Felician Golden Falcons to draw within six, 68-62 with 5:49 to play.

Lay-ups from Webb and Mello-Klein returned the Falcon advantage to ten, 72-62 with four minutes left, and Bentley held on for the victory as only four more points were scored the rest of the way.

Felician missed seven of its last eight field goal attempts and its final three free throws.

In addition to scoring 17, Webb had a career-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. He made half of his 12 shots, sank four of eight three-pointers and also had two steals.

Wright-Kinsey made six of ten overall and half of his eight three-point attempts while also contributing three steals and three rebounds.

Hudson, six of ten overall, followed with 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Mello-Klein added 12 rebounds, seven assists and seven points, and senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) added nine points off the bench.

Sophomore guard Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) led Felician with 16 points.

Bentley limited the Golden Falcons to 41 percent shooting overall and only seven of 26 from outside the arc. In addition, the Falcons had a major advantage at the foul line, making eight more (9-1) and attempting 11 more (15-4). Rebounds (40-36) also favored the visitors and Bentley assisted on two-thirds of its baskets (18 of 27).

Bentley will be back in action Sunday afternoon with a 1 pm contest at Bloomfield University.
