Bentley Men Looks to Wrap Up 2019 with Successful Trip to New Jersey

WALTHAM, Mass. – Off to an 8-2 start, the Bentley University men's basketball team faces two weekend tests in New Jersey in the team's final action before 2020.

Coach Jay Lawson's squad will be in Rutherford, N.J. Saturday to take on Felician University and will be in Bloomfield, N.J. Sunday to face Bloomfield College. Both games will tip at 1 pm and links to live stats and video will be available at https://bentleyfalcons.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/schedule.

Bentley, a perfect 7-0 at home this season, has not enjoyed the same success on the road to date with only one win in three contests away from the Dana Center. Saturday's game at Felician will be the first action for the Falcons since a 75-56 win over Southern New Hampshire Dec. 10.

The Falcons lead the Northeast-10 in a number of categories, including scoring (87.0), field goal percentage (.502), rebounds (41.6), rebound margin (+10.1) and fewest fouls committee (11.1).

Senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School), who recently became the Falcons' newest 1,000-point scorer, is one of the team's four double-figure scorers. He averages 17.8 points and eight rebounds while also leading the team in field goal percentage (.590) and blocks (17).

Guards Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) and Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) follow, at 16.8 and 13.7 points, respectively. Both are shooting 52 percent from the field with Webb 23 of 52 from deep and Mello-Klein 16 of 31 from beyond the arc.

Junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS) owns an 11.2 scoring average and a .562 field goal percentage. He's raised his rebound average to 6.1 after collecting nearly eight a game over the last five.

Sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School), who averages 9.0 points, rounds out the starting five while senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) and sophomore guard Adria Amabalino Perez (Barcelona, Spain) have been the top contributors off the bench.

Felician, following an 87-80 win over Concordia on Wednesday, is 4-5 overall and is the only team so far this season to record a win over nationally-ranked Dominican. The Felician Golden Falcons score 82.3 points a game and give up nearly 86.

Felician has four double figure scorers, including senior guard Zamir Wright. The 1,000-point scorer has missed the last two games after averaging 19.9 points per game in the first seven and 18.7 last season. Sophomore forward Jay'von Jackson provides 13.6 points and six rebounds a game and senior guard Jeff Lewis (12.2 PPG, 8 RPG, .588 FG) and sophomore forward Dee-End McRae (12 PPG, 8 RPG) are also threats.

Bloomfield will take a 5-5 record into Saturday's meeting with Franklin Pierce and is 3-0 against Northeast-10 teams, including a 75-67 victory over then nationally-ranked Saint Anselm. In their most recent contest, the Bears dropped an 83-75 decision to Post University on Wednesday. That was despite 25 points from 6-6, 230-pound junior Rich Chapman in his first action of the season.

Senior guard Safee Adbus-Sabur leads Bloomfield with a 16 point-per-game average and four 20-point games, including 29 against Saint Anselm. Senior forward Matt Lajeunesse, who like Chapman is 6-6 and 230, has been a force on the boards, averaging 11.8 rebounds in addition to 9.4 points.

Bentley will also be on the road for its first game of 2020, a non-conference match-up at Saint Rose.
