WALTHAM, Mass. – Guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) opened his junior season with the first triple-double in program history and sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) poured in a career-best 33 points as the Bentley University men's basketball team shot down Wilmington University (Del.), 109-74, during the first night of the Bentley Tip-Off Classic.

Mello-Klein, who achieved his triple-double with ten minutes still remaining, finished with 13 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds, with the latter two numbers both career-highs. He played 31:17, had two steals and only one turnover, and finished a plus-35. His efforts helped the Falcons extend their streak of season-opening wins to nine.

Down 27-22, Bentley took charge with a 12-0 run over a three-minute stretch that gave coach Jay Lawson's club a 34-27 lead with just under nine minutes on the first-half clock. Senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) scored five of the 12 and Webb sank one of his six three-pointers.

The surge grew to 23-7 and Bentley had a 45-34 lead with four minutes remaining in the opening half. By that point, Webb had already eclipsed his career-best (12) and had all of his 17 first-half points.

In front 48-42 at the break, Bentley returned the differential to double figures with eight straight points making it 58-44 with about 17 minutes to play. Sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) had six of those with a pair of three-point plays, one from the left corner and the other on a fast-break lay-up and free throw.

The Falcons put the game away by scoring 18 unanswered to claim an 83-53 lead midway through the second half. Webb began the burst with a three and Stankiewicz finished it with two baskets from outside the arc.

Six Falcons scored in double figures, all five starters and Stankiewicz, who came off the bench for 13 points and a team-high +38. He also had six rebounds and three assists.

Webb actually had more field goals than his previous high point total as he knocked down 13 of 20 overall, including six of 12 from downtown. Senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/ Northampton Williston HS) followed with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and he also provided six rebounds.

Bentley also received a season-high 11 from Wright-Kinsey and ten, along with eight rebounds, from junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS).

Senior guard Jermaine Head (Edgewood, Md.) led Wilmington with 21 points and five assists.

Bentley shot 57 percent overall, including 67 percent in the second half when the team was 24 of 36, and buried 16 of 35 three-pointers. The Falcons had an incredible 34 assists and crushed the Wildcats on the boards, 53-23.

Points in the paint were 48-16 and Bentley finished with an 18-0 advantage in second-chance points.

Bentley's point total was its highest since scoring 112 in November 2017.

The tip-off tournament continues on Saturday with Saint Anselm, an 83-69 winner over Concordia (N.Y.), facing Wilmington at 3 pm and Bentley taking on Concordia at 5 pm.
