Richmond Named Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Award Winner for Men’s Basketball

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), whose senior year included earning both All-America and Academic All-America honors, has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Sport Excellence Award winner for men's basketball.

The award is presented annually to the premier scholar-athlete in each of the Northeast-10 sports. It's the third time in the last five years that a Bentley men's basketball player has received the honor with Richmond following in the footsteps of Keegan Hyland, the 2015 and 2016 honoree.

Richmond was also one of five named to the Academic All-Northeast-10 men's basketball team and one of four repeat honorees.

Richmond wrapped up a standout career with 2,081 points, third most in program history. He averaged over 22 points a game each of the last three seasons, including 23.0 this past year, and his career scoring norm of 19.3 is second best ever by a Falcon.

A three-time All-Conference honoree and two-time first-team selection, Richmond led the Northeast-10 in scoring and was 12th nationally in Division II.

His lengthy list of accolades included being selected as a Division II All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and as a Google Cloud second-team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was one of only two Division II men's basketball players nationally to earn both honors.

The Canadian also excelled in the classroom, earning a 3.41 grade point average while majoring in finance.

Bentley finished the 2018-19 season with a 19-10 record.
