WALTHAM, Mass. – The honors continue for Bentley University senior and 2,000-point scorer Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) as the six-foot-one guard was named to the 2019 Coaches' Division II All-America team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday.

It was also announced that Richmond was selected for the Reese's Division II College All-Star Game, which will be played Friday, March 29, at 7 pm CT at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind., site of the 2019 Division II Elite Eight. Reese's brand is the official candy partner of the NCAA.

It has been quite the week for accolades for Richmond, who finished his career as the number three leading scorer in Bentley history with 2,081 points, as well as tied for eighth on the Northeast-10 Conference's all-time scoring list. His list of previous honors included Google Cloud Division II Academic All-America second team. He was one of only two to earn both All-America and Academic All-America accolades, the other being Ben Sonnefeld of Colorado School of Mines.

"This is another terrific recognition for Ryan, to be chosen an NABC All-America a week after he was selected Academic All America," praised longtime Bentley head coach Jay Lawson. "That's a combination very few student-athletes put together in our sport. 

"I can also speak for our entire program when I express how pleased and proud we are of any recognition Ryan receives because of our respect for his approach over the past four years.  He's a very self-motivated person with a unique drive to reach his full potential in all area, as a player, student, teammate and leader.  He is also a talented basketball player who is very deserving of this recognition that goes to only sixteen players in the country," continued Lawson.

Richmond becomes the eighth NABC All-America in Bentley history, following Al Grenfell (1975), Brian Hammel (1974, 1975), Jim Ferrer (1979), Tim Forbes (2006), Nate Fritsch (2008), Jason Westrol (2009, 2010) and Tyler McFarland (2016).

Richmond, one of two international students on the 16-player All-America team, averaged a Northeast-10-leading 23.0 points per game, along with 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and one steal. He had a solid shooting season, connecting at a 47 percent overall while knocking down 40 percent of his three-pointers and 89 percent of his free throws.

It was the third straight year Richmond has averaged at least 22 points and scored at least 600 points with both of those accomplishments unprecedented in Bentley history. His 19.3 career scoring average is the highest ever by a Bentley four-year player, and second highest ever by a Falcon, and his 37.5 minutes per game this season was a school record.
