WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate student Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) dropped in 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting, senior guard Alex Furness (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) followed with 18 and senior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) moved into a tie for fourth on the program's all-time scoring list as Bentley University rolled to a 76-50 win over the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at Charger Gym.

Bentley, after trailing by as many as seven, held the Chargers without any kind of run over the game's final 27:30. New Haven made only 10 of its final 33 shots, after an 11-for-17 start, and was outscored 57-24, including 40-18 in the second half, after opening a 26-19 advantage.

The Falcons improved to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast-10 while New Haven fell to 4-10 overall and 1-7 conference with its fifth straight defeat.

After trailing by as many as seven (26-21 with 7:50 left), Bentley took a 36-32 lead to the halftime locker room after junior guard Matt Barr (Stratham, N.H./Exeter HS) buried a 40-footer at the buzzer to cap a 17-6 run.

Hyland had a second straight big first half. After scoring 22 on 9-11 shooting during the first 20 minutes last Saturday, he dropped in 16 before the break, hitting six of eight, including a pair of early three-balls.

The momentum carried over into the second half with Bentley beginning the final 20 minutes with a 15-5 run, including seven points by McFarland, to make it a 14-point game, 51-37. A Furness triple from the left corner with 7:06 to play stretched it to 63-43 and the Falcons closed out the game with a 10-2 spurt over the final 5:07.

Hyland's 10-12 shooting included four of five from beyond the arc, and in addition to 26 points, he gave the Falcons six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Furness, who drilled four of seven three-balls, scored 13 of his points after intermission and also helped out with six rebounds and two assists.

McFarland struggled through an uncharacteristic rough shooting game (6-20), but his 13 points boosted his career total to 1,731, matching Tim Forbes' total from 2002-06. He also had a game-high eight rebounds, two rejections and a steal.

Junior guard Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y.) led New Haven with 14 points, 10 coming in the first 12-plus minutes to spark the Chargers to the 26-19 lead.

Bentley outshot the home team 48-42 percent, hit twice as many threes (10-5), had half as many turnovers (5-10) and dominated the boards, 37-23. There were 17 second chance points in the game, all scored by the Falcons, and there were no missed free throws with Bentley making six and New Haven three.

Bentley will return home for a Wednesday evening encounter with Adelphi University (7:30 pm).
