WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS), grad student Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and senior wing Alex Furness (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) combined for 77 points as Bentley University shot a sizzling 66.7 percent to best Assumption College, 103-86, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Tuesday night at the Laska Gym.

McFarland, who moved into tenth on Bentley's all-time scoring list with 1,572 points, finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Hyland followed with 27 point, nine boards and six helpers and Furness, who scored 17 before missing his first shot, netted 21 with four assists. Combined, the trip was 31 of 43 overall and 12 of 19 from downtown.

Bentley, which improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 conference, wasn't the only team that had an impressive shooting night. The Greyhounds were over 60 percent most of the way and finished at .569.

The sixth and final lead change of night came about 2:20 into the contest when Furness drained the first of his five three-pointers, making it a 10-8 game.  He followed with another triple about 70 seconds later, the Falcons' fifth basket in as many attempts.

Another Furness three, this one from the right wing, produced the first double-digit lead of the night, 31-21 with 11 minutes left in the half. At that junction, Bentley was 11 of 14 overall and six of seven from outside the arc.

The two teams were separated by only three points at intermission, 52-49, following an opening 20 minutes in which Bentley was on target on 18 of 27 shots and the Greyhounds (3-2, 1-2 NE-10) 21 of 34.

The spread stayed in single numbers until a pair of Hyland threes, one from each side of the court, and a 10-foot fall-away by Furness made it 72-59 with 11:24 to play.

Assumption, on the strength of a big second half by sophomore guard Kamali Bey (Springfield), got back within seven with five minutes to play before Bentley put it away with nine unanswered. That run, which made it 98-82 with 2:26 left, featured five points by Hyland.

Of the Falcons' three 20-point scorers, Hyland had the best shooting night, 12 of 15 including a perfect nine-of-nine inside the arc. Furness was seven of ten overall and five of eight from three, and McFarland finished 12 of 18 with three triples. Bentley also received 14 points and six assists from junior guard Ferguson Duke (Dartmouth, N.S./Hun School (N.J.)), who made four of his five three-pointers.

Bey scored 22 points for Assumption and the Hounds also received 17 from junior guard Declan Soukop (Melbourne, Australia).

Bentley's .667 field goal percentage was its best in nearly five years, and the 100-point effort was the team's second of the season. The Falcons controlled the boards, 30-21, with the Assumption starting five collectively grabbing only six boards.

Bentley will play its fourth straight road game on Saturday, a non-conference game in Philadelphia against Holy Family.
