16 Bentley Players Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sixteen members of the 2019 Bentley University field hockey team have been named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, including four who were recognized for the fourth straight year.

They are seniors Abby Adams (Longmeadow/Longmeadow HS), Keally Ingersoll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge HS), Christa Knell (Watertown/Watertown HS) and Ashley Scholten (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS).

Scholten was also tabbed an NFHCA Division II Scholar of Distinction for having a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90 through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

The Division II National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the fall semester.

Six Falcons received National Academic Squad recognition for the third time with the list including seniors Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS), Julie Earley (Howell, N.J./Howell HS) and Sarah Rockwood (Walpole/Walpole HS). Also making their third appearance were juniors Sam D'Aquila (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS), Dimitra Efremidis (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS) and Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow HS).

Earning the honor for the second time were senior Sam Pavano (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and sophomores Erin McCool (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS), Katelyn McGuigan (Nesconset, N.Y./ Smithtown East HS), Meghan Moran (North Andover/North Andover HS) and Christine Murray (Westwood/Walpole HS).

Concluding the list of Bentley players on the National Academic Squad was sophomore Kate Slowe (Medfield/Medfield HS), a first-time honoree.           

Coach Jessica Spencer's team was also recognized with a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.
