Anderson, Vogel Lead Bentley to Season-Opening Win at Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior forward Tess Anderson (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS), one of the premier scorers in Division II last season, posted a two-goal, five-point performance and sophomore Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS) turned in the shutout as Bentley University opened with a 3-0 non-conference win at Franklin Pierce University in college field hockey Saturday afternoon.

After a 19-goal season in 2018, Anderson notched her first of the new year at 7:52 of the first quarter. She buried a loose ball in the cage after a defender blocked a shot from senior Sam Pavano (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS).

By the time the first quarter was history, the lead was 2-0 after Anderson provided the assist on a goal by senior Rachel Crowley (Leicester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) at 11:54.

It remained that way under Anderson scored on a deflection midway through the third quarter. Sophomore Meghan Moran (North Andover, Mass./North Andover HS) earned the assist.

Vogel recorded three saves, with two of those coming in the second. Her counterpart from Franklin Pierce, junior Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.), was credited with nine stops.

Bentley had the shot advantage, 14-8, but the 0-2 Ravens attempted nine of the contest's 12 penalty corners.

Bentley will open its home schedule on Wednesday evening against Saint Anselm College.
