Trio Named Bentley Field Hockey Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Rachel Crowley (Leicester/Notre Dame Academy), Janelle Magoon (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry HS) and Sarah Rockwood (Walpole/Walpole HS) will serve as captains of the 2019 Bentley University field hockey team, head coach Jessica Spencer announced.

It's the second time around as captain for Crowley, who also helped lead the team last year when Bentley posted an 11-8 record.

Crowley, after being sidelined during the 2017 campaign, bounced back to start all 19 games last season. She established career bests in the scoring columns with five goals, five assists and 15 points. During her career, she has 11 goals, 10 assists and 32 points in 54 contests.

"Rachel made an impact right away as a freshman," said Spencer. "I expect her to have a fantastic year."

This will be the third Bentley season for Magoon, who began her collegiate career at Rider College. The midfielder started 17 times last fall and recorded a pair of assists.

"Janelle leads by example and is one of the hardest working players to ever come through this field hockey program," said Spencer. She makes an impact in every game."

Rockwood, a back, played in 18 of 19 games last season and made one start. She's appeared in 36 games during her career and has twice appeared on the National Academic Squad.

"Sarah has been a positive force within the Bentley Field Hockey program since day 1," praised Spencer. "She has been a leader from the beginning."

Bentley will open Sept. 7 at Franklin Pierce and will play its home opener Sept. 11 against Saint Anselm. Both will be non-conference matches.
