The Bentley victory over the tenth-ranked Skyhawks left both teams with identical records, 7-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play, and tied for fifth place.
Following a scoreless opening half, Ellis gave Bentley a 1-0 lead at 7:50 of the second when she took a penalty corner put in play by Moore, dribbled it just inside the circle and drilled it into the cage for her second goal of the season.
Bentley made it a 2-0 game with 10:14 left and again it came off a penalty corner with Moore and Ellis involved. Moore once again took the hit, Ellis fielded the ball and sent it over to senior Meghan Talerman (Centerville/Barnstable HS), who fired it into the net for her first goal of the season.
Just about a minute-and-a-half later, it became a one-goal game against when Stonehill senior Erika Kelly (Watertown), the conference's leading scorer, successfully finished a penalty corner with her 12th goal of the season.
Junior Evelyn Schaedel (Burlington, Vt./Burlington HS) earned her fourth win in five decisions for the Falcons, making five saves in the process. For Stonehill, freshman Sara Freedman (Hopkinton) recorded four saves.
Stonehill had the statistical edge, outshooting the home team 15-10 and attempting four more penalty corners, 7-3.
Bentley's next game is Tuesday, a 4:30 pm start at Merrimack College.
