PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior captain Molly Rowe (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport HS) scored the game's only goal less than two minutes into the game, propelling Bentley University to a 1-0 win over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Friday night at Finnerty Field.
Bentley improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference while continuing its trend of alternating wins and losses. Pace fell to 2-5 overall and remained winless in the conference at 0-2.
Rowe's second goal of the season came off an assist from classmate Sally James (Milwaukee, Wisc./Univ. School of Milwaukee), finishing a penalty corner put in play by senior Becca Moore (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS).
Katie Kelley (Walpole, Mass./Walpole HS), also a senior, posted two saves with the shutout her second of the season and tenth career.
Bentley, which was outshot 8-5, also received a defensive save from junior Tori Ellis (Madison, N.J./Madison HS). It was her Division II-leading sixth of the season.
Bentley will be back at home on Sunday for a 12 noon non-conference encounter with Limestone College.
