Campbell Recognized by Fred Mitchell Award for Excellence in September

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior Mason Campbell (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier HS) was one of 29 placekickers from around the country who were recognized for their excellence on the football field during the month of September and in the community.

In four games in September, Campbell converted five of six field goal attempts and converted all 14 of his extra point attempts. Against Pace on September 10, in a 41-20 win, he scored 11 points with two field goals and five extra points.

Campbell also scored 11 points in Saturday's 41-0 win at Franklin Pierce and currently leads the Northeast-10 with 40 points. Earlier this week, he was recognized as the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week.

Campbell, over the last two seasons, has scored 85 points while making 9 of 11 field goals, with a long of 32, and 58 of 64 extra points.

Off the field, Campbell served as an e-board member for the Bentley Catholic Association last year, and continues to help and support them as well as leading other fellow Catholics at Bentley to come to church and participate in the many events and retreats offered throughout the year. He is also involved with Athletes in Action on campus.

Campbell, who also handles kickoffs for Bentley, was one of eight kickers from Division II to receive the recognition. The rest of the 29 include 10 from FCS programs, eight from Division III, two from NAIA institutions and one NJCAA.

Bentley, 3-2, will host Saint Anselm College Saturday at 12 noon.
