This Day in Bentley History - April 27, 2008: Bernadeau Drafted by Carolina Panthers

On this day in 2008, Bentley All-America offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau was selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers. He was the 252nd overall selection and became the first-ever Bentley player to be drafted by an NFL team.

The Waltham High product went on to a long NFL career, playing in 111 career games, with 49 starts, with the Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys from 2008-15. His 111 games was the second most by a 2008 seventh-round draft pick.

Bernadeau, a 2016 inductee into the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame, was one of the most decorated offensive linemen ever to play in the NE-10. He was a three-time first team all-conference selection and twice was named first team all-region.

In 2007, he was selected as an AFCA All-American after finishing his career having started each of the 37 games that he dressed in a Bentley uniform.
