Five Bentley Falcons Named to Hampshire Honor Society

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five former Bentley University football players, all members of the Class of 2020, were named to the 2020 Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation for their success in the classroom during their collegiate careers.

They were wide receiver Ryan McCarthy (Holden/Wachusett Reg. HS), linebacker Travis McGee (Lecanto, Fla./Lecanto HS), linebacker Kyle O'Donnell (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS), offensive lineman Hudson Ressler (Cary, N.C./Green Hope HS) and defensive back Karl Schmidt (Woodridge, Ill./ Benet Academy).

Requirements for earning Hampshire Honor Society recognition include achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, completing their eligibility during the 2019 season and being a starter or important reserve.

Bentley's five honorees was the second most by a Northeast-10 team and tied for the 13th most in Division II nationally.

McCarthy played in the most career games of the quintet, 36, while both McGee and Schmidt played in 29. O'Donnell saw action in 17 and Ressler a dozen, including five as a starter his final year. McGee previously earned Academic All-Northeast-10 honors.

Majors are computer information systems for O'Donnell, finance for Ressler and economics-finance for the other three.

Bentley captured the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference championship and finished the season with a five-game winning streak.
