Fehskens, Troiani Nominated for NE10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year

WALTHAM, Mass. – Cross country runner Paige Fehskens (Wareham/Wareham HS) and baseball standout Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) are Bentley University's nominees for the 2019-20  Northeast-10 Conference Men's and Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.

There are 14 nominees for each award as each conference institution submitted one for each. Each is a senior student-athlete that has excelled both athletically and academically. The two winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 27.

Fehskens entered the spring semester with a sparkling 3.87 grade point average as an accountancy and liberal studies major. Troiani also impressed in the classroom with a 3.74 in economics-finance. Fehskens has appeared on the President's List six times and Troiani's resume includes five President's List citations.

Fehskens, also Bentley's nominee for NE10 Woman of the Year, has been the Falcons' number one cross country runner since the start of the sophomore year and the team captain the last two years. Her top career finishes have included 15th in the 2017 NE10 championships and 22nd in the 2018 NCAA Division II East Regional. Fehskens' track career was limited since her sophomore year, due to a semester in Barcelona as a junior and the combination of injuries and the Pandemic this year.

The nomination for Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the third recognition for Troiani this week. He was presented with the Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award, as Bentley's premier senior scholar-athlete, on Wednesday and was voted to the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 1 on Thursday. He hit .358 during an abbreviated season this spring, was third in hitting in the prestigious Cape Cod League last summer, and finished his career with a .320 average, 104 runs scored, 148 hits and 228 total bases.
