"We had eight seniors and four graduate students return for this year's team, a total of 12 players coming back from the year before," said Coach Bob DeFelice. "So we had pretty much the whole team return. It was not only a veteran team, some of them had already played for three years. They also were coming off a junior year with in which they had great success, winning, I think, 20 of their last 30 games.
"We were looking forward to probably one of the best years that we've ever had here with a lot of quality players. One of our players, Ryan Berardino, was drafted. Max Troiani ended up being the third leading hitter down at Cape Cod last summer. Not only did we have a lot of experience, we also had an exceptional amount of talent, concluded DeFelice."
Bentley finished the shortened season at 5-9 and won three of the last four games. Leading the team in hitting were Hopkins (.362), Troiani (.358) and Figueira (.333). Hopkins and Troiani each homered twice and were also among the leaders in RBI with 14 and 10, respectively. In between those two was Pierce with a dozen RBI.
Corriveau posted a 2-0 record off the mount and Frisoli had a 2.66 ERA in a team-high 20.1 innings.
