Hopkins Named Northeast-10 Baseball Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior shortstop Chris Hopkins (Malden/Malden Catholic HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in four games down in Florida last week.

In a 3-1 week, Hopkins was 7-for-16 with an .875 slugging percentage, a .550 on base percentage, six runs scored, eight RBI, four doubles and a home run. He was 5-for-5 with 11 total bases, two doubles, one HR, three runs scored and four RBI in a 13-6 win over Bloomfield. He also drove in three runs in a 15-8 victory over Bridgeport.

After missing most of last season with an injury, Hopkins leads the 5-9 Falcons in hitting at .362, with his 17 hits including seven doubles and two home runs. He also leads the team in slugging (.638) and has a .455 on base percentage.

Bentley, 5-9, was also represented on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll by senior center fielder Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) and a pair of graduate students, third baseman Jake Pierce (East Bridgewater/East Bridgewater HS) and pitcher Ryan Corriveau (Milton, N.H./Nute HS).

Troiani hit .412 (7-17) with four runs scored and six RBI during the week. He posted a .476 OBP and also had a double, a home run and a sac fly. He hit safely in all four games and had multiple hits three times.

Pierce had a slash line of .444/.500/.778 with his eight hits including one home run, one triple and a double. He scored five times and had six RBI. He hit safely in all three games with three against Bloomfield and a pair of two hit games. He also drove in three runs in a 15-8 victory over Bridgeport.

In a 9-5 Bentley win over Bloomfield, Corriveau allowed one earned run and six hits during six innings of work. He didn't walk anyone and struck out five.
