Fordiani Named NCBWA Division II East Region Hitter of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior right fielder Gino Fordiani (Sudbury/ Lincoln-Sudbury HS) has been named the Division II East Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association after helping the Falcons to a 5-0 week from April 27-May 2.

Fordiani, who was previously named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, is the second Falcon this season to earn the honor. Last month, senior center fielder Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) was recognized as both the East Region and Division II National Hitter of the Week.

In the final week of the regular season, Fordiani was 7-for-12 at the plate with six runs scored, five RBI and a .696 on base percentage. His week included three runs and three hits in a 14-0 game one win over St. Michael's and two hits and three stolen bases in the second half of the twinbill. He also had two RBI in a 10-8 win at Saint Anselm.

Fordiani, who became a fulltime starter at the start of April, batted .333 and had a .478 on base percentage. He scored 20 times and drove in 15 runs while playing in 28 of 42 games.

Bentley finished with a 21-21 overall record after winning 12 of its last 15 games.
