WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior outfielder Gino Fordiani (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) has been named the Baseball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference after leading the Falcons to a 5-0 record during the final week of the regular season.

During the five wins, Fordiani was involved with 11 runs and hit .583 (7-12) with a .667 slugging percentage and a .696 on base percentage. His week included six runs scored, five RBI, a double, five walks, four hit by pitch, two sacrifice flies and three stolen bases. He had three runs scored and three hits in Game 2 of the St. Michael's series and at least one RBI in four of five games, including two at Saint Anselm in a 10-8 win.

Fordiani, who became a regular in the Falcon lineup midseason, is hitting .325 with 18 runs scored, four doubles and 15 RBI. His on base percentage is an impressive .477 and he's been errorless in 66 chances in the field.

Three other Falcons were also recognized by the conference for their play last week with inclusion on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll. They are junior third baseman Jake Pierece (East Bridgewater/ East Bridgewater HS), senior pitcher Paul Frisoli (Watertown/Arlington Catholic HS) and sophomore pitcher Jimmy Hodgson (Newton/Newton North HS).

Pierce batted .458 during the five wins with 11 hits, seven runs scored, four RBI and a .500 on base percentage. He had multiple hits in four of five games, including four in Game 3 of the St. Michael's series, and scored at least one in each contest. Pierce also had a 1.000 fielding percentage with ten chances at third base.

Frisoli pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout and struck out a career-high 14 in a 14-0 victory over St. Michael's Friday. He walked only one and did not allow a runner in scoring position in eight of nine innings.

Hodgson was 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA and nine strikeouts in two appearances. He allowed five hits and one run in 5.2 innings at Saint Anselm and pitched five shutout innings against St. Michael's.

Bentley, 21-20 with a seven-game winning streak, will host Merrimack on Tuesday in the first round of the Northeast-10 Championships.
