Dawson, Berardino Selected as Future League All-Stars

WALTHAM, Mass. – Right-handed pitcher Luke Dawson (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) and first baseman Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) will represent Bentley University in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, which will be held on Wednesday, July 18, at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

The two Bentley standouts have both been enjoying a productive summer for the Nashua Silver Knights. Dawson, in seven starts, has posted a 4-0 record with a 3.31 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 38 innings of work. Berardino owns a .325 batting average with a stat line that includes a home run, 12 RBI, an .805 OPS and a .447 slugging percentage.

Dawson, a rising senior, struck out a school record 95 for the Bentley Falcons while registering a 6-4 record and a 3.16 ERA during the 2017 season. He held opposing hitters to a .224 average, had a walk-strikeout ratio of 3.5, and posted back-to-back shutouts against St. Michael's and Assumption.

In Northeast-10 games, Dawson achieved a 5-1 record with a 2.64 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 58 innings. Four times during the course of the season he recorded double-figure strikeouts.

Berardino, a rising junior and two-time All-NE10 honoree (second team 2017, third team 2018), batted .289 and slugged .459 during his second collegiate season with his 46 hits including ten doubles, a triple and five home runs. He scored 26 runs and shared the team lead in RBI with 36.

During a seven-game stretch in mid-April, Berardino drove in a total of 15 runs, a stretch that included a trio of three-RBI games. His career totals through his first two seasons include a .316 average, 85 hits and 49 RBI.
