WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons used a 13-hit attack and solid pitching to earn its third consecutive win, 7-3 over visiting Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference baseball Wednesday afternoon at DeFelice Field.

Junior right fielder Austin Farry (Watertown/Watertown HS) had a team-best three hits and both senior third baseman Mike Samko (Arlington/BB&N) and sophomore left fielder Luke Figueira (Taunton/Taunton HS) scored twice to lead the Falcons to their 11th win in their last 17 games.

Bentley jumped in front in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) drew a two-out walk, stole both second and third and scored when the catcher's throw sailed into left field. It became an earned run when sophomore DH Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) followed with the game's first hit, a single to left field.

The Falcons made it a 4-0 lead in the second, capitalizing on four hits. Figueira delivered an RBI double down the left field line and was one of two to score on bloop single to left center by freshman second baseman Charlie Auditore (Walpole/Walpole HS).

The lead was cut in half in Stonehill's next bat on a two-run double to right center by Skyhawk junior third baseman Harrison Sabo (Wilton, Conn).

Bentley restored the four-run lead with a two-run sixth inning. Figueira, reaching on an infield single, scored on a wild pitch for the Falcons' fifth run. Later in the inning, a double by Samko drove in sophomore pinch-runner Gino Fordiani (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS), making it a 6-2 game.

Both teams took advantage of an error to score their final run, Bentley in the eighth and Stonehill in the ninth.

Junior right-hander Ryan Corriveau (Milton, N.H./Nute HS) earned the win after taking over for starter Daniel Riley (Mansfield/Xaverian Bros. HS) to start the fifth. Corriveau allowed four hits and one unearned run in his five innings, and Riley yielded three hits and two runs in four innings.

In addition to three by Samko, Bentley's 13 hits included two apiece by Samko, Berardino, Figueira and sophomore shortstop Chris Hurley (Malden/Malden Catholic HS).

Bentley evened its overall record at 12-12 and improved to 2-3 in NE10 Northeast-10 games. Stonehill dropped its fourth straight to fall to 11-12 overall and 3-2 division.

Bentley, in the midst of a 12-game homestand, will host St. Michael's this weekend in a series that was relocated from Vermont. The two teams will play at 3:30 pm Friday and a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
