WALTHAM, Mass. – Right-handed graduate student Bill Sullivan (Carver/Carver HS) went the distance for his third complete game and fourth victory of the season as Bentley University won its third straight, 7-5 over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference baseball Tuesday afternoon at DeFelice Field.

The visiting Skyhawks got on the scoreboard first, picking up two runs in the top of the second. Sophomore first baseman Harrison Sabo (Wilton, Conn.) led off with a single to left and scored on a double to center by senior shortstop Steve Lee (Braintree). After Lee took third on the throw, he scored on a sacrifice fly by junior catcher Alex Hurley (Rumford, R.I.).

Bentley, which has now won six of its last nine, more than answered in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on singles by freshman second baseman Tom Diskin (East Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) and sophomore left fielder Austin Farry (Watertown/Watertown HS), a passed ball, a wild pitch, a stolen base and an error to score three times and go up 3-2. Two of the runs scored on sacrifice flies, off the bats of juniors Nick Neshe (Waltham/Waltham HS) and Peter Bocchino (Saugus/Governors Academy).

The Falcons put up another three-run inning in the fourth after setting the table with a walk, a balk and a hit batter. Freshman first baseman Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln Sudbury Reg. HS) had an RBI single and Farry, who had extended his hitting streak to 11 in the third, followed with a two-run single to center. 

Bentley's third sacrifice fly of the afternoon, this one hit by Berardino, scored sophomore center fielder Brandon Grover (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) and made it a 7-2 lead after six.

Stonehill got back in the game in the seventh with a two-out rally that produced three runs. After a walk and a single, senior left fielder Ben Monte (New Haven, Conn.) had an RBI single. Senior DH Eddie Bowler (Hingham) followed with another RBI single, a third run scored on a throwing error, and all of a sudden, the visitors were within two, 7-5.

 The Skyhawks threatened in the ninth but stranded the potential tying runs in scoring position when Sullivan fanned his 13th batter of the afternoon, a new career-best. Now 4-5 on the season, he scattered eight hits and walked three in the contest.

Bentley totaled only six hits with Farry (2-for-4) the only Falcon with more than one. Grover scored three times and Berardino finished with two RBI and a pair of runs scored.

With the win, Bentley improved to 6-2-1 in divisional play and 8-19-1 overall. Stonehill dipped to 10-21 overall and 3-7 Northeast.

Bentley will begin a three-game series at Southern New Hampshire Friday afternoon (3:30 pm).
