WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons scored seven unanswered runs over the final four innings, including four in the ninth, to overcome a 3-0 deficit and post a 7-4 win over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division baseball Saturday afternoon at DeFelice Field.

Senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) began the comeback in the sixth when he homered for the fourth time this season, following a single by senior center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater/Xaverian Bros. HS).

A two-out rally in the top of the seventh (Bentley was officially the visitor since the game was originally scheduled to be played at Merrimack) brought the Falcons even. Junior catcher Bryan Rocha (Rehoboth/Dighton-Rehoboth HS) doubled to right, moved up 90 feet on a passed ball and scored on a Muir single through the right side. Muir's three-hit afternoon boosted his team-leading average to .323.

Bentley's big ninth inning saw the Falcons capitalize on four Warrior errors with three of the four runs unearned. Freshman left fielder Nick Neshe (Waltham/Waltham HS) reached on a one-out error, Muir singled to left and both moved up when the ball was misplayed in left.  After Nagy was intentionally walked, junior second baseman Zachary Littman (Abington/Abington HS) delivered a two-run single to center.

Later in the inning, senior first baseman Ryan O'Connor (Newburyport/Newburyport HS) made it 6-3 with a sacrifice fly. Littman scored Bentley's final run on a throwing error on a double steal.

Merrimack got one run back in the bottom of the ninth on a solo home run to right by sophomore second baseman Cam DiSarcina (Shirley).

Sophomore lefty Evan Walsh (Arlington/Arlington Catholic HS), who was pitching in relief for the ninth this this spring, earned his first career victory. He pitched the final three, in relief of senior righty Connor Root (Nashua, N.H./Nashua HS North), and allowed three hits and one run with three strikeouts. Root, in his sixth start of the year, allowed eight hits and three runs in six innings. He struck out six.

In addition to three by Muir, Bentley's ten-hit attack included two from Littman, who has now reached base in all 16 games that Bentley (4-12, 2-2 NE-10 Northeast) has played this season.

DiSarcina led Merrimack (11-10, 3-4 NE-10 Northeast) with three hits and two runs, and the Warriors also received three hits from junior DH Matt Brown (Belmont).

Bentley is back in action Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Assumption (1:00 pm. The first will be the continuation of a game suspended last month with the Falcons on top 2-0 after one as the result of what will be Nagy's fifth home run.
