COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) slammed a three-run homer to center in the first inning and finished with four RBI and three runs scored as Bentley University remained at the top of the Northeast Division standings with an 11-2 win over St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference baseball Friday afternoon at Doc Jacobs Field.

Bentley, 13-3 since March 15, improved to 14-10 overall and 6-1 against divisional competition after prevailing in the first of a three-game weekend series. St. Michael's dropped to 2-14 overall and 1-8 Northeast-10.

The Falcons did most of their work early with three runs in the first and six in the third chasing Purple Knight starter Luke Barkowski (Dorchester, Mass.).

Bentley senior left fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) opened the game by becoming the sixth player in program history to amass 200 hits, a single to center that extended his hitting streak to 19 games and his on-base streak to 29 games. Sophomore second baseman Burton Deady (Andover, Mass./Andover HS) followed with a single to left, and after a fly ball out, Nagy made it 3-0 with his third home run of the spring.

Five different Falcons were credited with RBI during the third inning. Nagy and junior center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater, Mass./Xaverian HS) had RBI singles, the third run scored on an error, sophomore catcher Bryan Rocha (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth HS) drew a bases-loaded walk, senior DH Dante Padovani (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield HS) was hit by a pitch with the bases full, and Keady capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Bentley made it 10-2 in the fourth inning and once again Nagy was involved. He led off with a walk and eventually scored on the Purple Knights' third wild pitch of the inning.

Padovani capped the game's scoring with an RBI single in the sixth, driving in Muir who had reached with a lead-off single.

Bentley's 13-hit attack included three by Muir, who bumped his average to a team-leading .349. Deady, Nagy, Rocha and Padovani all finished with two hits.

Junior lefty  Ryan O'Connor (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport HS) won his fourth straight game, improving to 4-2 overall. He pitched 6.2 innings, struck out seven and allowed six hits, two runs and five walks before giving way to a trio of relievers.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at St. Michael's, with the first pitch scheduled for 12 noon.
