HAVERHILL, Mass. --- Senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) drove in five runs, junior center fielder Mike Muir (Bridgewater/Xaverian Bros. HS) had a pair of three-hit games, and senior third baseman Nate Witkowski (Melrose/Malden Catholic HS) finished with four hits, four runs and three RBI as Bentley University swept American International College, 12-1 and 6-2, in a Northeast-10 Conference non-divisional doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Haverhill Stadium.

The sweep completed a four-win weekend for the Falcons and extended the team's winning streak to five games.

In the opener, Bentley scored at least one run in each of the first eight innings, including four in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a commanding 9-0 lead.

In the fourth, with the Falcons already having scored single runs in the first three innings, a hit batter, a walk and a catcher's interference filled the bases and a bases-loaded walk to senior left fielder Sean Keady (Norwood/Norwood HS) brought in the first of four runs in the inning. Freshman second baseman Burton Deady (Andover/Andover HS) followed with a two-run double to left and senior shortstop Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley HS) hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0.

An inning later, a two-run homer to left by Witkowski extended the lead. Nagy delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth, Keady provided an RBI single in the Muir drove in Nagy in the eighth to compete the scoring.

The 11-hit attack included three apiece by Muir and Witkowski, with the latter also finishing with three RBI, three runs scored and seven total bases. Keady was involved in five of the runs, scoring three times in addition to driving in a pair.

Junior righty Connor Root (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North HS) picked up his second win of the year after limiting the Yellow Jackets to six hits and one run over the first seven innings. He walked only one and struck out six.

In the nightcap, Bentley jumped out to an early lead with two unearned runs in the second. An inning later, with Keady and Brennan on base, Nagy cleared the center field fence for a three-run homer and the advantage was up to 5-0.

The Falcons tacked on an insurance run in the seventh with Nagy walking, moving to third on an error and scoring on Muir's single to center. His six hits in the twinbill boosted his average to .412 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Junior David Long (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS) earned his first Bentley win after allowing only one hit during 6.1 shutout innings. He struggled with his control (seven walks) but also struck out seven. Freshman Ray Rowell (Wellfleet/Nauset Reg. HS) picked up the save with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Bentley, 6-7 overall and 2-0 against NE-10 opponents, is scheduled to host Merrimack College on Wednesday at 3:30 pm., the team's NE-10 Northeast Division and home opener.
