WINTER PARK, Fla. – Sophomore lefty Ryan O'Connor (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport HS) pitched seven scoreless innings and junior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) led the Falcon offense with a 4-for-4, 3-RBI afternoon as Bentley University won its third straight, 9-1 over the University of Bridgeport in non-conference college baseball Wednesday afternoon at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium.

O'Connor, who evened his record at 2-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.70, allowed only five hits and two walks while striking out four in a 96-pitch performance.  He faced only one significant threat, when the Purple Knights (2-5) loaded the bases in the fourth with a single, double and a walk. O'Connor escaped unscathed after a ground ball back to the mound.

Nagy, who moved into a tie for the Northeast-10 lead in RBI with 19, picked up his first of the afternoon during a two-run first. Junior center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) led off with a four-pitch walk and freshman DH Bryan Rocha (Rehohoth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth HS) followed with a double down the left field line, and Nagy plated Keady with a one-out single through the left side. The third sacrifice fly of the season by senior catcher Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) brought in Rocha for a 2-0 lead.

With the lead at 3-0, the Falcons added two runs to their lead in the fifth. Junior third baseman Nate Witkowski (Melrose, Mass./Malden Catholic HS) scored on a wild pitch after opening the frame with a walk, and an RBI double by Nagy, after an error extended the inning, made it 5-0.

Witkowski walked to lead off the seventh and once again, the Falcons made it hurt, striking for four runs to break it open, 9-0. Driving in runs were Nagy with a single, Korwek with a double, junior shortstop Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley HS) with a single and freshman Evan Mondor (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth HS) with a single.

Bridgeport scored its only run of the game in the eighth when senior third baseman Ross Graham (Kingston, Ont.) doubled and scored on an outfield throwing error, the Falcons' only miscue of the day.

Bentley, which evened its record at 6-6, outhit the Purple Knights, 11-7, with Rocha (two hits) the only Falcon other than Nagy to have more than one.      

Bentley and Bridgeport will conclude their three-game series Thursday at noon.
