Bentley Wraps Up Cross Country Season at NCAA East Regional; Falcons Led by Fehskens and Ondr

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Bentley University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their 2019 season Saturday by competing in the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships at the Belmont Plateau. The Falcon men finished ninth among 26 teams and the women's squad was 14th of 23.

The men, with a score of 312, were seventh among Northeast-10 teams and the women, with a 370, were ninth among conference teams.

Senior Paige Fehskens (Wareham, Mass./Wareham HS) concluded her collegiate cross country championships by finishing as Bentley's top runner for the 17th consecutive time.  She covered the 6,000-meter course in 24:10.8 to finish 40th in a field of 162.

Two places and about four seconds behind her was junior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS). Her time was 24:14.6.

Bentley's number three runner was freshman Audrey Christo (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS), 83rd in 25:19.6.

Freshman Nick Ondr (Ozark, Mo./Glendale HS) has been the top runner for the Bentley men all season and Saturday was no exception. He finished 30th overall and seventh among freshmen with a 10,000-meter time of 33:01.2.

Senior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) also cracked the top 50, finishing 49th in 33:52.8. Next for Bentley, in 73rd, was junior Soham Basu (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood HS) with a time of 34:51.9.

Team champions were Roberts Wesleyan in the men's race and Stonehill in the women's. Roberts Wesleyan edged American International 55-62 and Stonehill was 15 points better than the Roberts Wesleyan women, 26-41.

The men's champion was AIC freshman Mutai Ezra by 42 seconds over Stonehill's Lucas Taxter with a 30:58.4. Stonehill's Samantha Curtin won the women's race in 22:19.1, with a margin of victory of 4.1 seconds over Southern New Hampshire's Ashley Corcoran.
