Brennan Sets Pace for Bentley Women in Mayor’s Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – In its final meet before the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Nov. 9, the Bentley University women's cross country team competed in the Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park Sunday morning.

For the third straight race, junior Sarah Brennan (Quincy/Notre Dame Acad.) led the way for the Falcons as she placed 11th amongst collegians and 55th overall in a 130-runner field. Her time of 19:40 over the 5,000-meter course was 19:40.

Three other Falcons broke 21 minutes with that list headed by freshman Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS). She finished in 20:28 to place 74th overall. Sophomore Katie Burke (Braintree/Braintree HS) was 76th in 20:30, an improvement of 49 seconds over her time on the same course earlier this month at the New Englands, and freshman Caroline Conrad (Bedford, N.H./ Bedford HS) was 85th in 20:40.

Bentley was ninth of ten overall in the team standings with the top three all club teams: the Boston Athletic Association, New Balance Boston (which included former Bentley standout Melissa Nash) and the Greater Boston Track Club.

The Northeast-10 Championships will be held at Franklin Pierce University.
