Another Big Effort by Lopp Leads Bentley to 11th Straight

EASTON, Mass. – Senior setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) had her second outstanding performance of the week, amassing 43 digs, 11 digs and a career-high seven block assists as Bentley University made it 11 straight with a 3-1 win over Stonehill College Friday evening at Merkert Gymnasium. Scores were 26-24, 25-15, 16-25 and 25-19.

Bentley improved to 16-4 overall and a conference-best 5-0 in the Northeast-10 while moving to within one of tying the program's longest winning streak of the 2000's. Stonehill dropped to 8-6 overall and 1-2 NE10.

 Lopp, who had 42 assists in a 3-0 victory over Franklin Pierce on Tuesday, distributed the ball primarily to seniors Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) and Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School), along with junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz,/Desert Mountain HS).

Milner led Bentley in kills with 14 while hitting .379, and Bruno swung at a .429 success rate with 11 kills and two errors in 21 attempts. Segaline chipped in with 12 kills.

Bruno just missed a double-double, finishing with nine blocks. The Falcons' leader in digs was senior Emily Bathelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS).

The opening set saw Bentley close with a 10-4 burst after trailing 20-16. That run included two kills by Milner, another by Bruno and a shared block by Bruno and Lopp.

Bentley's next match is at home Tuesday against Assumption College.
