3-0 Sweep of Assumption Extends Bentley Streak to 8

WALTHAM, Mass. – With seven different players amassing between four and seven kills, the winning streak for the Bentley University women's volleyball grew to eight as the Falcons swept Assumption College in a non-conference match at Laska Gym Friday night. Scores were 25-21, 25-14 and 25-15.

It was the seventh 3-0 win during the streak for the Falcons, who have won 24 of their last 26 sets and now own a 13-4 record for the season. It matches the 2015 team for the program's longest winning streak in this decade.

Senior co-captain Mariana Boyer (Arvada, Colo./Bloomfield HS) topped the kill list with seven while Bentley's two All-Northeast-10 seniors, Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/Greenhill School) and Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./ Francis Parker School) each had six kills and one error, with both hitting over .330.

Coach Joey Pacis also received six kills from sophomore Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS), five from junior Mallory Burbage (Bow Mar, Colo./Littleton HS) and four apiece from junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) and Katie Rounds (McFarland, Wis./McFarland HS), who led the team with three blocks. Burbage finished with a team-best 14 digs.

Senior Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) provided the assist on 30 of Bentley's 38 kills and also had nine digs.

The Falcon defense limited Assumption to an .009 hitting percentage with 21 kills and 20 errors.

It's a short turnaround for Bentley as the Falcons will host St. Michael's in a conference match Saturday at 1 pm.
