Bentley Sweeps Southern New Hampshire for 4th Straight 3-0 Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University women's volleyball team opened its Northeast-10 Conference schedule Thursday night against Southern New Hampshire University and came away with its fourth straight 3-0 victory at the Dana Center. The scores were 25-22, 25-18 and 25-19.

Sophomore middle Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda HS) had another strong hitting match for the Falcons with ten kills and a .500 success rate. Senior setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./ Flathead HS) also played a key role in the victory, finishing with 30 assists, five kills in six swings, nine digs and three blocks.

There were 32 ties in the match and only 16 percent of the serves came with the two teams separated by more than three points, including only one of 47 serves during the opening set.

Bentley closed out the first set with a 7-1 spurt after falling behind 21-18. Senior Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/Greenhill School) had two kills during the run and classmate Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) provided set point with an ace.

The second saw the Falcons earn 13 of the final 17 points and hit an impressive .387. Junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) led the way with four kills and two aces in the set.

In the third, Bentley seized control with a 9-3 burst extending a one-point lead to 22-15. Five different players recorded a kill during that time.

Ngo, who also had four blocks, was followed in the kill column by Milner and freshman Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS), each with nine.

Freshman Juliana Pacini (San Paulo, Brazil) had a match-high 11 kills for SNHU.

Bentley (9-4) outhit the 5-6 Penmen .257-.148 and had seven of the match's nine aces.

On Saturday, the Falcons will be at Mercy College for a triangular with American International College.
