Milner Leads Bentley to 3-0 Win over Eastern N.M.; Falcons Complete Cougar Classic at 2-2

SAN MARCOS, Calif. –Senior outside hitter Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) hit an impressive .545 with a match-high 13 kills and only one error as the Bentley University women's volleyball team closed out play in the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Classic with a 3-0 win over Eastern New Mexico University Saturday at the Sports Center.

Bentley completed the tournament with a 2-2 record with the win over Eastern following a 3-0 loss earlier in the day to Western New Mexico University.

In the 25-22, 25-18, 25-18 victory over Eastern, Bentley wrapped up the opening set by scoring the final three points. A kill from senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) was sandwiched in between two from Milner.

The third set was even at 15 before Bentley closed the match with a 10-3 run that included two more Milner kills.

Sophomore Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) also played a key role in the win with 30 assists, seven kills in eight attempts, seven digs and two blocks. The Falcons also received eight kills and nine digs from junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS).

Western New Mexico collected its 25-19, 25-16, 28-26 win behind a 12-kill, two-block effort from senior Erin Moss (Kailua, Hawaii).

For Bentley, Milner supplied seven kills and freshman Jenna Giaquinto (Lighthouse Point, Fla./ Cardinal Gibbons HS) made 14 digs in the loss to the Mustangs.

The All-Tournament Team included Milner and freshman Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit, Mass./ Barnstable HS). Milner totaled 37 kills and hit .333 in the four matches, and Murphy amassed 23 kills and 28 digs.

Bentley will open its home schedule Friday with day one of the Sandy Hoffman Memorial.
