Le Moyne Sweeps Past Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's first home match in three-and-a-half weeks didn't go as planned as the Falcons were swept in three sets by Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Friday night at the Dana Center. The scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-13.

The Dolphins (12-9, 4-7 NE10) were powered by senior Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y.), who hit a lofty .515 with 18 kills and only one error in 33 swings. She also helped defensively with four blocks and three digs.

The opening set was back-and-forth with nine ties, six lead changes and a biggest score differential of five points. Bentley opened a 17-14 lead, only to see the visitors run off seven straight points to seize control.

The final two sets were both tied at 1-1 before Le Moyne took a lead it would never relinquish. In the third, the Dolphins had runs of 8-1 and 14-5.

Sophomore Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) led Bentley with nine kills and freshman Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda HS) followed with seven. Junior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker HS) was the Falcons' top hitter with a .475 success rate, six kills and three blocks.

Le Moyne hit .330 while holding the Falcons to a .126 hitting percentage and also had seven of the matches' eight service aces. Sophomore setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y.) assisted on 35 of her team's 43 kills and also had ten digs.

The loss dropped Bentley to 9-16 overall (5-6 NE10) and put the Falcons in tenth place with three matches to play.

Bentley will be back at home Saturday at 1 pm for a Senior Day game against The College of Saint Rose.
