Bentley Rides Segaline Double-Double to 3-0 Win at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) turned in a 10-kill, 12-dig double-double to lead Bentley University to a 3-0 win over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday afternoon at Laska Gym.

All three sets went right down to the wire before the Falcons were able to prevail in the end, 28-26, 27-25 and 25-21.

The first set was tied at 24, 25 and 26 before two Segaline kills gave the visitors a 1-0 lead. In the second, Bentley was facing a 24-23 deficit before earning four of the final five points, including two on kills from sophomore Mallory Burbage (Bow Mar, Colo./Littleton HS).

In the third, after the Greyhounds pulled within one at 22-21, Bentley claimed the match's final three points on a kill and two aces by Segaline.

Segaline, who had three of the Falcons' nine aces, was followed in the kill category by senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker HS) and freshman Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS), each with eight.

Burbage led the team in digs with 15, and junior Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) provided 29 assists and ten digs.

Assumption (3-15, 3-9 NE10) was led by senior Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich.) with 13 kills and 14 digs.

Bentley (9-15, 5-5 NE10) will complete its home schedule this weekend with matches against Le Moyne Friday evening and Saint Rose Saturday afternoon.
